Helleborus x sternii - 1.5 litre

This is a hybrid and is very variable since individual plants take after one parent or the other and may be either tall or dwarf. The tall ones may need staking and they are hardier. The plant makes a handsome foliage clump with grey green leaves having greenish white veining and noticeable spiny looking edges to the long leaves. The flowers which come from December through to April are clusters of small cups, coloured green and suffused with pink or purple. This hellebore is happy in a sunny position and likes fertile soil that doesn't dry out. The taller form stands 50cm (20in) high with a spread ofat least 80cm (2ft 6in).
